The guide

How to build a waste removal website that gets you booked

Plenty of rubbish removal, clearance and skip hire firms do good work but are almost impossible to find online. Customers end up booking whoever shows up first on Google, sometimes an unlicensed operator. A clear, fast website changes that. Here is how we plan and build websites for waste removal and recycling companies.

1. Give every service its own page

People search for the exact job they need, so one general page won’t rank for much.

  • Separate pages for rubbish removal, house clearance, garden waste, office and commercial clearance, builders’ waste, skip hire, grab hire and recycling.
  • Each page explains what you take and what you can’t, how the collection works, typical prices, how quickly you can come and short FAQs.
  • Skip hire pages list skip sizes with dimensions, what each one holds and whether a council permit is needed to put it on the road.

2. Show prices clearly

Price is the first thing customers want to know. “From” prices by load size (for example single item, quarter, half and full van) or by skip size help people decide quickly and cut down on time-wasting calls. Explain what affects the final price, such as heavy materials, mattresses or items that need special handling.

3. Put your licence where customers can see it

Anyone who carries other people’s waste as a business must be registered as a waste carrier. In England that’s with the Environment Agency, in Scotland with SEPA, in Wales with Natural Resources Wales and in Northern Ireland with NIEA. Householders and businesses have a legal duty of care to check that whoever takes their waste is registered, and councils fine people whose waste ends up fly-tipped.

  • Show your waste carrier registration number on every page, usually in the footer, with a link to the public register.
  • Mention that you provide waste transfer notes for business customers.
  • Explain where waste goes, such as licensed transfer stations and recycling centres. Your recycling rate is a strong selling point if you track it.

4. Be found locally

  • A clear list of the towns and postcodes you cover.
  • Area pages for your main towns with genuinely local detail, not copied text with the town name changed.
  • A complete Google Business Profile with photos of your vans and recent jobs, and the same name, address and phone number as your website.
  • Titles and descriptions written for real searches like “house clearance Brighton” or “rubbish removal near me”.

5. Make booking effortless on a phone

Most customers search on a mobile, often standing next to the pile of rubbish. We aim for pages to load in under 2.5 seconds and add a fixed bar with one-tap call, WhatsApp and email. A short quote form with photo upload lets customers show you the job so you can give an accurate price without a visit.

6. Build trust with proof

  • Real photos of your team, vans and before-and-after clearances.
  • Genuine reviews linked to Google, Checkatrade or Trustpilot.
  • Your public liability insurance and any memberships you hold.
  • Honest claims only. The UK advertising code (CAP) applies to your website, so avoid promises like “100% recycled” unless you can prove them.

Waste removal website checklist

  • One page per service, including what you can’t take
  • “From” prices by load size or skip size
  • Waste carrier registration number on every page
  • Waste transfer notes mentioned for business customers
  • Towns and postcodes you cover, plus a Google Business Profile
  • Real photos and genuine reviews
  • Mobile load time under 2.5 seconds, with tap-to-call
  • Quote form with photo upload

FAQ

Questions we often get asked

Can you show our waste carrier licence on the site?

Yes. We show your registration number on every page and link to the public register, so customers can check you’re licensed before they book.

Can customers send photos to get a quote?

Yes. We can add photo upload to your quote form, so you can price a job without a site visit.

Can we show prices on the website?

Yes. Most waste firms show “from” prices by load size or skip size. It’s your choice how much detail to share.

Will I show up on Google in my area?

We set up your pages, titles and local business details for the towns you cover, and help you connect your Google Business Profile. Rankings take time, but a fast, well-structured site gives you the best start.

Can you write the pages for us?

Yes. You fill in a 10-minute brief about your services, prices and areas, and we write every page. You check and approve everything before it goes live.
